The UCC formula student team wouldn't exist without its amazing team members, so we thought it would be a great idea to get everyone to tell us a few little details about themselves! Over the next while we'll constantly update the mini profiles, adding some more details and uploading accompanying headshots and in the future, some of the members might even write a blog or 2!
Leads:
Gráinne Donegan
Course: 4th year Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering
Role: Team Lead, but I also work on any FEA or CFD simulations for the car
Hobbies and Interests: Apart from formula student, my hobbies consist of being the Development Officer for Engineers Without Borders UCC and being a Peer Support Leader for incoming first year engineers. My interests consist of football and Formula 1.
Fun Fact: I can't swim, cycle or drive!
Rory O'Donovan
Course: 3rd year Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Role: Mechanical Team Lead
Hobbies and Interests: I cycle on a regular basis, master FIFA player and no.1 Accrington Stanley fan.
Fun Fact: In my soccer career, I scored more own goals than goals.
Elvis Seporaitis
Course: 2nd year Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Role: Electrical Team Lead
Hobbies and Interests: I run an organisation helping refugees gain employment. I do casual archery. I have an interest in Machine Learning and AI.
Fun Fact: In my whole life, I've only ever worn black socks.
Julian Power
Course: 4th year Process and Chemical Engineering
Role: Integrated Lead
Hobbies and Interests: Play bass in a band (The Flavours), co-run a record label (Strawberry Media), Play rugby in the All-Ireland League (Midleton RFC).
Fun Fact: I'm ridiculously competitive, to the point where in School my nickname was 'Try-Hard'.
Padraig Murphy
Course: 4th Year Finance
Role: Finance Lead
Hobbies and Interests: Walking the dog and playing futchamps.
Fun Fact: I named my dog after me, Padraig Junior.
Elaine O'Sullivan
Course: 4th Year Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering

Fun fact: I was picked from the crowd at a concert to meet Taylor Swift in 2018!

Anthony O'Malley
Course: 1st year General Engineering
Role: I do research and CAD models for Tires, Aerodynamics and steering!
Hobbies and Interests: I love climbing both indoors and outdoors.

Eoin McCarthy Course: 2nd year Electrical and Electronic Engineering Role: Wiring section for the electrical team and chassis section for the mechanical team. Hobbies and Interests: Building and racing cars, Formula1, and electronics.
Fun Fact: Like watching how to videos on Youtube about cars.
Matthew Cronin
Course: 2nd year Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Role: Brake Subsystem Design
Hobbies: Squash, Mathematics and Engineering
Fun Fact: I can solve a Rubik’s cube!
Wongwa Giqwa
Course: 2nd year Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Role: I am part of the suspension group in the Mechanical Team. I, along with my partner, am responsible for the design of the suspension system of the formula student car. I am focusing more on the maths and calculations side of things.
Hobbies and Interests: Watching anime and series. Listening to music.
Fun Fact: I am a hell of a singer!
Orla Finn
Course: 4th year Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering
Role: Simulations
Hobbies and interests: I have a strong interest in Athletics and I am a very artsy person. I also love travelling!
Fun fact: I have an unhealthy obsession with chocolate.

Course: 5th Year Process and Chemical Engineering
Role: Simulating suspension kinematics
Hobbies and Interests: Painting, baking, dancing, choreographing

Hobbies: Hurling and handball. Ping pong since lockdown.
Fun Fact: I live in Liscarroll which has the only donkey sanctuary in the south of Ireland and the third largest thirteenth century castle in ireland.

Siún Keane McCarthy
Course: 1st year General Engineering
Role: Work on the transmission as part of the integrated team
Hobbies: guitar, gaelic football
Fun Fact: i've actually been to and been driven around the formula one track in Monza
Ethan Hussey
Course: 1st year General Engineering
Role: I'm a part of the Integrated Team and I oversee the Transmission of the Car.
Hobbies and Interests: I love rugby and playing the guitar.
Fun Fact: I'm great at Arkham Origins combat missions.
Naoise O'Thuama
Course: 1st year General Engineering
Role: I’m on the Integrated Team and I am working on the differential and final drive of the car.
Hobbies and Interests: Watching Formula one and playing PlayStation.
Fun Fact: First time that I crashed a car was when I was eight.
Rose Delaney
Course: 1st year General Engineering
Role: Part of the integrated team overseeing the motor
Hobbies and Interests: kayaking, tennis and rock climbing.
Fun Fact: I have a collection of rubber ducks.
Bill Kelleher
Course: 4th Year Process and Chemical Engineering
Role: Motor Casing and Cooling
Hobbies and Interests: Soccer, puzzles.
Fun Fact: I completed El Camino De Santiago (over 750 km) in a month.
Operations:
Rob Lester
Course: 1st year Commerce
Role: Finance
Hobbies and Interests: Watching all kinds of motorsports as well as playing football.
Fun Fact: I came third in a national chess competition when I was in primary school.
Aiden Sheehan
Course: 3rd year Process and Chemical Engineering
Role: Media and Operations
Hobbies and Interests: I am very involved with my local GAA team, Valley Rovers, with whom I play hurling and football with at senior level. In the off season I play rugby with Bandon RFC. To relax, I enjoy reading historical books or watching historical documentaries with a big mug of tea and eating my mum's home baking.
Fun Fact: I am a huge mummy's boy
Clodagh Hayes
Course: Process & Chemical Engineering
Role: Manage the Formula Student Instagram account.
Hobbies and Interests: I play badminton competitively and do knitting & cross-stitching during my free time (which there's been loads of during the pandemic!)
Fun fact: In first year, I played 10 hours of badminton per week

Role: Manage the Formula Student LinkedIn account
Hobbies and Interests: Singing, baking and traveling
